In practice, your technical career may look like this:
Directly after your studies or training, you will focus on your future work field.Within the following three years, intense training-on-the-job as well as internal and external seminars are key elements for your qualification process in becoming a Professional Engineer. Up until that point, you will have acquired additional skills within the project management environment, you will be involved in operational procedures and you will know our quality requirements.
Your technical expertise will constantly grow during the following years. Exchanging your knowledge with other external professionals at conferences and using our training program to further your interdisciplinary qualifications such as presentation, communication or conflict skills will also be part of the pathway.
About 5 years later, you will officially reach the next step by becoming a Senior Engineer. As an authority in your work field, you gradually become a coach or mentor for colleagues and a contact person for the group company both nationally and internationally. Passing through the stages as a Principle Engineer and a Senior Principle Engineer, the highest possible status in the technical career path is the position as a Chief Engineer, being directly involved with the company’s technical strategy and taking responsibility for the technical activities within your division.
Alternatively, you can advance to Project Manager. Initially, you assume responsibility for partial projects in which you coordinate the activities of your own as well as external project staff. As your career progresses, you will become a project manager and account for the overall technical project success as well as for costs and schedules, both internally and for the customer. Your development will be accompanied by internal and external trainings as well as a regular exchange with the internationally operating Assystem Project Management Community.
In practice, your technical career may look like this:
After your studies, you have already gained first work experiences within the field of engineering. Ideally you have developed an affinity for managing projects during that time or even acquired some skills regarding the project business. Join us as a Project Engineer: in this position, you are responsible for a subproject or an own small project, functioning as a technical interface to the client. Control of project costs, milestones and quality requirements is solely your responsibility.
After two years of completing various internal and external trainings on topics such as risk management, contract law and naturally project management, you will be in sole responsibility for the whole project completion process as a Project Manager. This position includes not only team responsibility, but also contract negotiations and complaint management. Your skills and abilities will be strengthened by special training elements regarding leadership skills and customer relationship management.
During the following years, you will make your way to becoming a Principal Project Manager, enjoying internal and external recognition as a Project Management Expert. You are in charge of several projects and provide guidance to the respective project managers while evaluating offers and managing contract negotiations with the clients.
The last step within the project management pathway is the position as a Chief Project Manager/Project Director, taking over complete profit responsibility for every project in your area of jurisdiction. Over the past ten years, you have proven your confidence and success in challenging customer negotiations and in stabilizing customer relationships. You contribute actively to the strategic orientation of the company by developing and implementing PM requirements, processes, methods, techniques, etc., which will enhance the Assystem PM development path.
The third way for progression is by taking on management responsibility. As a Team Manager you will already be accountable for the utilization and management of your assigned staff. Later as Head of Business Unit/Center, you will take responsibility for the entrepreneurial success of a region including the assigned employee teams.
Do you enjoy consulting with customers? Then our Sales or Customer Service areas are just the thing for you. Focused on the acquisition of new projects and customers, you will analyse the needs as well as the technical and commercial requirements of our customers, to match their needs and requirements with our expertise.

Long-term learning is standard at Assystem. Our challenging and novel projects always offer a great opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge on-the-job. In addition to our external training opportunities, we also offer a wide range of customized, need-based, internal training plans through our Assystem Institute. Training is discussed with you individually, with your supervisor and our personnel department, so you can develop not only technically, but also methodologically as well as personally.

The Assystem Project Management Institute promotes the development of our employees’ individual professional and methodical project management competencies up to the project manager certification.
Various user trainings, thematically varying from the use of risk management tools up to leadership skills, ensure our future success in completing projects to the satisfaction of our customers.

The Assystem Aerospace Institute is led by experts whose competencies cover the different sectors of the aerospace industry - from product development programmes though serial production engineering to in-service operational support, refurbishment and conversion activities.
ts goal is to train Assystem employees in the use of our clients’ products, methods and specific tools in order to meet their needs and requirements.
Operational training is provided to both junior and senior employees, who can also benefit from specific quality-related certifying training. Besides that, relevant trainings concerning construction or calculation tools are naturally a key element.
The Assystem Automotive Institute is promoting the development of its personnel with specific training measures, focusing on aspects of intercultural collaboration in order to meet requirements of the clients after further internationalization but also approaching the handling of special methods and organization of our clients.
By exchanging knowledge throughout the automotive competence areas – realization of complex mechanical and electronic systems, assistance in serial production and aftersales division -, our experts use the internal transfer of knowledge to further our potential of supporting the market with technical innovations.
The Assystem Systems Institute is a real think tank, a place of education and innovation. Its aim and object is to pass on and further the technical know-how within in the company, which was acquired with regards to complex systems and during the use of different industry solutions.The institute’s experts enjoy sharing their knowledge – from sustainable systems and the conception of automotive electronics up to allocative functions and the automation of aerospace systems.
Contract Standards & Benefits
Our contractual standards include, in addition to a competitive salary reviewed annually, even more attractive points. For instance, a thirteenth payment and an additional percentage for overtime.
Our competitive salary also features the usual, additional percentage if you are employed in projects in the context of employee outsourcing.
Flexible working hours (flexitime) as well as a work-time accounting, mean that during periods of an intense workload you can accumulate positive hours, which you can later use towards additional time-off in lieu. Alternatively, upon reaching a defined number of hours, you can benefit from payment calculated at an overtime premium of 25%.
